The Malibu Home Driftwood model is a front skirted apron tub, also known as an Alcove bathtub. It's distinguished by coming unfinished on three sides with the front side (apron or skirt) being finished. The alcove sides come with a three sided molded in raised tile flange lip to prevent water intrusion into the wall. Skirted or Alcove tubs come come in left or right hand drain side orientations. The Driftwood is one of our most popular tub and is most often used in a bathroom remodels to replace an old shower/bathtub.

Homeowners looking to remodel or renovate their bathroom have a choice of either going with a Drop In tub OR with changing out an existing alcove bathtub - which is defined by the size of the 3 wall enclosure. A Drop In tub has no sides, thus your contractor builds a surround and deck for your Drop In bathtub to sit inside of - which is later finished with the material of your choice. An Alcove tub has one finished front side (called the Skirt) and fits into directly into the 3 wall space of your existing tub. Thus it's very important to know which side the drain is on and as well, matching the size.
